Dome Seal Manufacturer India — Custom Rubber Dome Seals

What Are Dome Seals?

Dome seals — also known as Insert Seals for Dome type Valves  -are precision-moulded rubber components used to create a flexible, pressure-tight seal between two chambers in industrial equipment. Unlike flat gaskets that sit between flanges, dome seals flex and deflect under pressure, making them essential in applications involving pulsating flow, pressure regulation, and valve actuation.

At Mangla Rubber Technologies, we have been manufacturing custom dome seals for over four decades. Our facility in Meerut, India is equipped with compression and transfer moulding presses ranging from 50 to 500 tonnes, allowing us to produce dome seals from 10 mm to 1200 mm in diameter with wall thicknesses as low as 0.5 mm.

Applications of Dome Seals

Dome seals are used across a wide range of industries where reliable, repeatable sealing under dynamic conditions is critical:

Pump and Valve Actuation: Dome seals serve as the primary diaphragm in pneumatic and hydraulic actuators, converting pressure into mechanical movement. They are found in control valves, butterfly valves, and diaphragm pumps used in chemical processing, water treatment, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Pressure Regulators: Gas and liquid pressure regulators rely on dome-shaped diaphragms to sense pressure changes and modulate flow. Dome seals in these applications must deliver consistent flex life — often exceeding one million cycles — without cracking or taking a permanent set.

Accumulator Bladders: Hydraulic accumulators in heavy machinery, presses, and injection moulding equipment use dome-shaped bladders to separate gas and oil chambers. These seals must withstand high pressures (up to 350 bar) and resist hydraulic fluids at elevated temperatures.

Sugar and Dairy Processing: In plate heat exchanger systems and evaporator bodies used in sugar mills and dairy plants, dome seals provide reliable sealing for inspection ports, sight glasses, and clean-in-place (CIP) systems. EPDM and silicone dome seals are preferred for these food-contact applications.

Marine and Shipboard Equipment: Dome seals in marine applications must resist seawater, fuel oils, and extreme temperature variations. Our FKM and HNBR dome seals are used in marine pumps, heat exchangers, and hydraulic deck equipment.

Dome Seal Materials — Engineered for Your Operating Conditions

Selecting the right elastomer for a dome seal is critical because the seal must flex repeatedly without fatigue while resisting the process media and temperature. We manufacture dome seals in the following compounds:

EPDM (Ethylene Propylene): Excellent resistance to steam, hot water, and mild chemicals. Temperature range: -40 to +150 deg C. Ideal for dairy, beverage, and water treatment dome seals. FDA-compliant grades available.

Nitrile (NBR): Superior resistance to petroleum-based oils, fuels, and hydraulic fluids. Temperature range: -30 to +120 deg C. The standard choice for hydraulic actuator dome seals and accumulator bladders.

FKM (Viton-type): Outstanding chemical and heat resistance for aggressive media. Temperature range: -20 to +200 deg C. Used in chemical processing, pharmaceutical, and high-temperature valve actuation applications.

Silicone (VMQ): Excellent flexibility at extreme temperatures (-60 to +230 deg C) and FDA/food-grade compliance. Preferred for pharmaceutical, food processing, and medical device diaphragms.

HNBR (Hydrogenated Nitrile): Combines the oil resistance of NBR with improved heat and ozone resistance. Temperature range: -30 to +150 deg C. Used in demanding automotive and industrial hydraulic applications.

Neoprene (CR): Good all-round resistance to weathering, ozone, moderate chemicals, and oils. Temperature range: -35 to +120 deg C. A cost-effective choice for general-purpose dome seals exposed to outdoor conditions.

Custom Dome Seal Manufacturing at MRT

Every dome seal we produce is custom-manufactured to your exact specifications. Our engineering team works from your drawings, samples, or application requirements to design and tool the seal. Our process includes:

Design and Tooling: We design mould tooling in-house using CAD software. Typical lead time for new tooling is 2 to 4 weeks depending on complexity. For repeat orders, we maintain tooling ready for immediate production.

Compound Development: Our rubber compounding laboratory formulates materials tailored to your specific operating conditions — temperature, chemical exposure, pressure, and flex-life requirements. We have developed over 200 proprietary compounds across our 45-year history.

Precision Moulding: Dome seals are produced on compression and transfer moulding presses with precise temperature and pressure control. Our quality system ensures dimensional accuracy within +/- 0.1 mm for critical sealing surfaces.

Testing and Certification: Every batch is tested for hardness, tensile strength, elongation, and compression set. We provide material test certificates and can conduct additional tests including flex-fatigue, fluid compatibility, and accelerated ageing on request.

Why Choose Mangla Rubber Technologies for Dome Seals?

With over 45 years of rubber manufacturing expertise and a team led by IIT Kharagpur-trained engineers with international experience at leading European seal manufacturers, MRT brings a depth of materials knowledge that most dome seal suppliers simply cannot match. We understand the science behind elastomer selection — not just the catalogue specifications, but how compounds actually perform under real-world cycling, chemical exposure, and temperature extremes.

We supply dome seals to 400+ industrial customers across India and export to clients in Europe, the Middle East, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Whether you need 50 dome seals for a pilot project or 50,000 for ongoing production, our facility is scaled to deliver with consistent quality and competitive lead times.
