FFKM O-Rings & Kalrez® Equivalent Seals — Built for Extreme Environments

When standard elastomers fail — when aggressive chemicals eat through seals in hours, when process temperatures climb past 250°C, when even FKM falls short — that is exactly where FFKM O-rings prove their worth. If you have been searching for Kalrez® equivalent O-rings or alternative perfluoroelastomer seals, you are in the right place. At Mangla Rubber Technologies, we have spent over four decades working with some of the most demanding sealing applications in India and globally. Our FFKM O-ring programme is the result of that experience: purpose-built compounds, manufactured in-house, and tested to perform where nothing else survives.

What Makes FFKM Different from Standard Elastomers

FFKM — or perfluoroelastomer — combines the chemical inertness of PTFE with the elastic sealing properties of a true rubber. It is the same class of material as Kalrez® (manufactured by DuPont/Chemours), Perlast® (by PPE), and Simriz® (by Freudenberg). Unlike FKM (Viton®), which resists many chemicals but struggles with amines, ketones, and steam at high temperatures, an FFKM O-ring can handle virtually the entire chemical spectrum. We are talking about resistance to over 1,800 chemicals, solvents, and process fluids — from concentrated nitric acid and hot caustic soda to ethylene oxide and superheated steam.

This is not a material you reach for casually. FFKM is a premium elastomer, and its cost reflects the complexity of its fluoropolymer chemistry. But in the right application — a reactor vessel running aggressive solvents, a CIP line in a pharmaceutical plant, a steam sterilisation cycle — the total cost of ownership drops dramatically. One FFKM O-ring that lasts two years replaces dozens of cheaper seals that fail every few weeks.

Our Proprietary FFKM Compounds — Kalrez® Equivalent Performance

Many engineers specify Kalrez® by habit, because for years it was the only perfluoroelastomer widely available. Today, independently manufactured FFKM compounds offer equivalent or superior performance at a fraction of the cost. Mangla Rubber Technologies has developed four proprietary FFKM grades, each formulated for a specific set of operating conditions:

MR1052 — Our broadest-spectrum FFKM grade, comparable to Kalrez® 6375 in chemical universality. Designed for environments where you need universal chemical resistance combined with reliable performance up to 320°C. This is the go-to compound for chemical processing, oil refining, and multi-product batch reactors where the seal sees different media in every cycle.

MR1053 — Engineered specifically for extreme chemical environments involving amines, hot caustic solutions, and mixed chemical streams. Where standard FFKM grades show accelerated degradation in amine-rich services, MR1053 holds its mechanical properties and seal integrity far longer.

MR1054 — A steam-resistant FFKM compound rated for continuous service up to 280°C. Formulated for applications in food processing, pharmaceutical manufacturing, and dairy plants where repeated steam sterilisation (SIP/CIP cycles) destroys conventional elastomers within weeks. This grade offers broad fluid resistance alongside exceptional steam and hot water performance.

MR1055 — Our high-temperature FFKM flagship, engineered for continuous operation up to 300°C with intermittent capability beyond that. Built for semiconductor fabrication, aerospace test rigs, and high-temperature chemical reactors where thermal stability is non-negotiable.

Applications Where FFKM O-Rings Are Essential

Over the years, we have supplied FFKM O-rings into applications that most seal manufacturers would consider edge cases. Many of these were previously served exclusively by Kalrez® parts — our customers switched to MRT compounds and never looked back. Here are the industries where our FFKM seals work every day:

Chemical and petrochemical plants — Reactor seals, pump shaft seals, valve stem packings, and flange gaskets exposed to aggressive solvents, acids, and alkalis at elevated temperatures. A single unplanned shutdown because of seal failure can cost lakhs in lost production. Our FFKM O-rings are specified by plant engineers at some of India’s largest chemical complexes precisely because they eliminate that risk.

Pharmaceutical and biotech — Sterile process environments demand seals that withstand repeated SIP and CIP cycles without degradation, leaching, or particle generation. Our MR1054 grade meets the stringent cleanliness and inertness requirements of pharma-grade sealing.

Oil and gas — Downhole tools, wellhead equipment, and refinery process lines operate under a punishing combination of high temperature, high pressure, and sour gas exposure (H₂S, CO₂). FFKM O-rings from Mangla Rubber are trusted in these environments because they maintain seal force and resist explosive decompression.

Semiconductor manufacturing — Plasma etch chambers, CVD systems, and wet bench tools require seals with near-zero outgassing and resistance to aggressive cleaning chemistries. Our MR1055 grade was developed with these ultra-clean applications in mind.

Food and dairy processing — Hot CIP solutions, steam-in-place sterilisation, and contact with fats, sugars, and cleaning agents demand food-safe sealing materials with exceptional longevity. Our FFKM compounds meet international food contact compliance requirements.

Custom FFKM Parts Beyond Standard O-Rings

While the O-ring is the most common FFKM sealing element we produce, our capabilities extend well beyond standard sizes. We manufacture custom FFKM parts including gaskets, diaphragms, valve seats, bellows, and complex moulded profiles — all from our proprietary compounds. If your application currently uses Kalrez® custom parts and you are looking for a cost-effective alternative with matched performance, our engineering team works with you from drawing to delivery.

We maintain tooling for a wide range of AS 568, ISO 3601, and JIS standard O-ring sizes, and we can produce custom tooling for special dimensions with typical lead times of 2–3 weeks. For plate heat exchanger gaskets in extreme-duty service, we also offer FFKM as an upgrade material over standard NBR or EPDM.

Why Engineers Choose Mangla Rubber Over Imported FFKM Brands

There is no shortage of FFKM O-ring suppliers quoting from catalogues — many of them simply reselling imported Kalrez® or Perlast® parts with hefty markups and long lead times. What sets Mangla Rubber Technologies apart is that we compound, mould, and test every FFKM part in our own facility in Meerut, India. That means full traceability from raw polymer to finished seal. It means we can adjust compound formulations when your application evolves. And it means pricing that is significantly more competitive than imported perfluoroelastomer brands — without compromising on performance.

Our facility holds ISO 9001:2015 certification, and our FFKM products are backed by full material test reports including hardness, tensile strength, elongation, compression set, and chemical immersion data. We understand that when you are specifying a premium seal material, you need the data to back it up — not just a brand name.
